What is this treatment?

A veneer is a thin porcelain shell bonded to the front surface of a tooth. It is used for colour, shape and minor alignment issues and requires very little reduction of the tooth.

Composite bonding shapes the tooth directly with tooth-coloured filling material. It is a less invasive option for chipped edges and small gaps.

Teeth whitening lightens the natural colour of the teeth. It does not change the colour of fillings, crowns or veneers, so an examination is needed first.

Veneers are porcelain shells made in a laboratory with high colour stability. Bonding is composite material applied directly in the mouth; it requires less reduction but may discolour over time.

Conditions such as gum disease, active decay or severe teeth grinding should be treated first. Suitability is determined after an examination.
